July 2007
Since my last report the season is now in
full swing. Since the lobster molt began on the last full moon in June the big
has finally arrived to feast on these delicacies. In recent weeks we have taken
bass as large as 35 lbs and 44 inches. Last evening’s charter group headed by
Bill Sietz,Tony Deak Jim Erho and Mark Harris. The boys had quite an outing. Tony
was first to land a big bass.. It was Chesapeake
female of 45 inches and 36 pounds on an 11 lbs test line. The skilled
left-hander battled him for 15 minutes before she emerged from the depths.
Jim Erho handed a 32 inch was later and then
Tony hooked up again into a 22 lb bass. These anglers released 15 bas during the
outing and also took 10 blues and several ledgemonsters to 11 pounds and 32
inches. Needless to say, Tony won the pool fishing pool for that day and was
named highliner for the trip. The water temperature remains below normal only
recently hitting 60 degrees
As long as the water
remains cool and the molt continues, the fishing will be superb. The fuking
has been spotty with many small fluke in our waters. The scup have arrived in
large schools and some to three pounds. This species is all white sweet
fish and great for the grill. Well anglers that is all for now. Tight Lines,
Capt. Tim
